Killing ourselves.

Im on medical leave for 2 days for a bad infection that started last wed. Did nothing much these 2 days apart from eating, taking medicine, read and sleep.
Decided to watch a movie tat my fren raved about ~SHARKWATER

I thought its a documentary about sharks, but it turned out, in my own words, its a documentary of brave people trying their means to save sharks from being killed by the millions everyday all over the world, its also a documentary about people, us, 'killing ourselves' daily without knowing it by behaving the way we do.

today, i learnt, that we continue to do the things we do to the nature through our consumption habits without giving a thought how it will affect us, we are literally 'killing ourselves' as we kill the nature.
Sharkwater is about sharks. Its about how sharks in general have diminished in numbers by 90% over the last 2 decades cos of our illogical and irrational consumption habits.

the Demand of shark fins at our dining table, at our splendour menu have been the cause of the diminish. However, shark fins have NO nutritional value, HIGH mercury level as sharks themselves have high mercury level in their body, NO taste, NO positive effect to us at all.

We all know and heard of the cruelty to sharks, they are caught alive and have their fins cut off then they are thrown back into the waters to bleed or to suffocate to death. We raised our fists at people who threw cats down 9 storeys, throw the poachers of bears into jails but do nothing to these who in no better words, murder the sharks.
But yet, we are no better than those who raised the knives and throw them back into sea, cos it was for our money that these knives are raised, we are the cause of the deaths of the sharks.

Best part..... we are inevitably killing ourselves as we kill the sharks who feeds on fishes who feeds on phytoplanktons which consumes our carbon dioxide, releasing much of the oxygen that we, humans rely on. Do you see it? Do you get it? When the sharks are gone, fishes will grow in numbers, consuming more of the phytoplanktons, and not given enough time to multiply, these phytoplanktons will be gone.... then there goes our food (fishes), there goes our oxygen.

i want to try to do my part. No more shark fins soup for a start. No more...
